RISING STAR - Archie Presley

Started as a runner now we’re here! Born and raised in Surrey, England, Archie Presley turned tables as young as 15 years old at a friends’ birthday party to keep those groovy teenagers going. Who knew that he would grow into an established disk jockey and an up and coming sound designer with several big gigs to his name. He’s DJ’ed at festivals like Cosmic Roots and ADE. He has also played at Radio Radio, Redlight Radio, Oosterbar and Operator Radio since arriving in the Netherlands. Pre Clogg era, Pondlife emerged, a label he co-curates, with a mix of broken beat, jazz and House, with a few vinyl releases to date and the next one up in January so keep an ear out!

With a degree from Leeds College of Music in Music Production, Archie joined the Wave Amsterdam team in early 2018. While working his way through running, prepping files and assisting the engineers in the studios, he got a taste for audio that he couldn’t un...hear. It started a couple years ago when Archie helped with sound design for TEEF, a film directed by the talented Jamille van Wijngaarden, to then one of his first projects, a W+K film: Klabu. To more recently a documentary skate film ‘How To Be A Roll Model‘. A smooth transition to engineerland was made just a couple months ago where he was caught in the act, for real this time. Arch smashed the sound Design on a trailer for Rally Ridberg’s “Doghouse” film and not long after he was working on projects for brands like Adidas, Puma, Vacature Via, All Rise and Haibike. Not forgetting about a cool music adaptation for Booking.com’s ICC Best of Rivals campaign and an awesome upcoming Samsung project! Even the fast-paced nature of working on commercials doesn’t knock him off his feet and you can feel the passion that goes into each project. Stoked to see a final product come alive and clients becoming friends.

From sound waves to the ocean. Outside the “box” Archie loves to discover new listening bars around town, he can be regularly found on the schedule of Feed Amsterdam. When the surf is good, you’ll find him bobbing in the North Sea on a surfboard he made over lock down. When possible, he’ll rip some curls down in Devon and Cornwall or perhaps in a sunny destination more further afield.
